?What advice do you wish you had taken from your parents?

I whish I had been much more diligent in my studies, more active in my sports, learned carpentry from my father, learned more about nature and country life from my farmer cousins, learned to play the piano, for which I took lessons during a year and quit, so many other missed opportunities.

In general, my parents expected me to graduate from the university, but did not influence me in favor or against any particular career. In close, every day contact, I had my cousins Emilito y Pepe Villamil, the former a physician surgeon, the latter a lawyer and journalist, still I had no tendencies to follow on the steps of neither, I wanted to be an engineer.

My father was very easy-going, not strict, not authoritative, my mother was the disciplinary half of that marriage. Likewise, most of the Rodriguez were easy going, most of the Porto had a good temper, probably because the former were from the Canary Islands, the latter from Galicia.
